THE HURLOCK SCHOOLROOM

The Hurlock Schoolroom.jpg (17150 bytes) In the north-west corner of the 'old' churchyard lies the well-proportioned little building erected by Dr James Hurlock (Curate 1803-31 and Rector 1831-47) in 1832. It was originally a girls' school on weekdays and on Sundays a "resting place for the poor and infirm between services" for many years. In the 1950s it was used by the then Sunday School. After a period of neglect, the building was renovated in 1980-81 and toilet/kitchen facilities were added in 1992. It is now used for 'Time Out' by the smaller children during the Eucharist and for refreshments every Sunday after the principal service.
